Film LOVE

August 28, 2009

I just got the film back from our most recent wedding here in Birmingham and LOVE it!  Film always captures moments with a classic sense of romance and I just can’t get over how much I love it.  Here’s a shot straight from the camera that I just really loved from this wedding…can’t wait to edit these and share the rest of them with you soon:

Engaged Wedding Library

August 26, 2009

We really can’t say thanks enough to the phenomenal ladies at Engaged Wedding Library. Engaged is a free wedding planning boutique on Oxmoor Road in Homewood, AL. Their sole purpose is to help brides-to-be. They work with over 100 professional wedding vendors and can help brides find everything from the perfect venue to the perfect gown (or perfect photographer :)

We had the pleasure of shooting a cover for Perfect Wedding Guide, their quarterly magazine. Here is a behind the scenes shot:

Lauren Cauthen (now Johns) Bridal Session

August 21, 2009

Last month I had the opportunity to head over to South Carolina a few days before The Johns wedding to shoot a bridal session with Lauren in her home town. We spent the morning the friday before the wedding all over campus and downtown Rock Hill with her sister and mom taking pictures and having a great time. Here are some of my favorites from the day:

I have a proposition for you:

August 19, 2009

Okay, so here’s the deal. I am the director for a non-profit called Bedouins International. I tell you this because WE (Bedouins) are doing a big project in Kenya in October. We will be teaming up with an NGO there called The Kiini Sustainable Initiative.

Ever heard of them?

Most likely not, which is exactly why we’re going. We will be capturing audio interviews, photos, video and then coming home to make them known. Our goal is to tell their story, and to provide them with tools to help them tell it themselves.

Rather than re-post an already written blog, go HERE to read about Kiini.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Here’s my proposition. I want to donate the profits of two photo shoots to this project. We have to raise $4200 for food, transportation, shots and visas (all in the next few weeks) in order to do this project.

So I’m going to offer this: Two Shoots, $350 each. The money will go straight to this project. The shoots can be bridals, engagements, headshots, family sessions, baby sessions…you name it. In fact, come up with something cool of your own and call me. I’m open to suggestions.

Contact me: 205.705.3123 or contact@stephendevriesphoto.com or leave a comment on this blog if you’re interested.

Please send this to your friends…anyone who might be interested. We’re really excited about helping out the people of Kiini, and would love for you to be a part of it.

Josh and Brooke Polaroids

August 18, 2009

Meet Josh and Brooke! This lovely couple just got married this past weekend. We had so much fun with them, and can’t wait to get the film back. Here is a sneak peak of the day. Polaroids make such a fun way to document a day like this!
